Akari Floor Lamp BB3-33S by Isamu Noguchi – 1970s
This beautiful Akari floor lamp, model BB3-33S, was designed by Isamu Noguchi and is a true classic of modern design. This piece was made in 1970s.
Shade: Made from handmade washi paper, the shade has a warm patina and is marked with the moon and sun symbol, signed by Isamu Noguchi. There is a small repair on one shade (see photos), but it’s otherwise in good vintage condition.
Structure: The lamp features a bamboo stem and a sturdy cast iron base, both in great original condition. The base is marked "Made in Japan."
Design Legacy: Akari Light Sculptures were created by Noguchi in 1951 and have been handcrafted for decades by the Ozeki workshop in Gifu, Japan.
