This functionalist sofa (model No. H-215) was designed by the eminent architect Jindrich Halabala for the furniture company UP Zavody. The sofa was manufactured in the 1930 and is a lovely example of prewar Czechoslovak functionalism. The structure is made of oak and features chrome bars on the side panels. Jindrich Halabala (1903 - 1978) was a Prague-based architect and designer, best known for his work as a leading Artistic Designer for Up Company. His pieces of furniture are valued for their quality, convenience, and robustness, adaptable for all the interiors thanks to the right balance between aestheticism and functionality.
